Some of y’all won’t admit that you hit the Loud / Kush and then passed out.
People smoke marijuana and think there’s not going to be any long-term effects. Well guess again my fellow ganja smokers. It will cause you BIG PROBLEMS!
Reality Check!
Marijuana smoke contains hundreds of chemicals, including many of the same carcinogens found in tobacco smoke, such as nitrosamines, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and acetaldehyde—with some at even higher concentrations. In a UCLA study some years ago, marijuana cigarettes released fives times as much carbon monoxide into the bloodstream as tobacco cigarettes, and three times as much tar into the lungs. Experimental work has also found that marijuana smoke can increase DNA-damaging free radicals.
Isn’t marijuana a herb?
Yes Marijuana is an herb and so is Tobacco, but it becomes a drug when you alter the chemical structure by burning and smoking, thereby creating a carcinogen. The benefits of marijuana are attributed to its cannabinoid compounds, including tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), which mimic natural substances in the brain that are associated with pain sensations, appetite and mood. THC is also the chief psychoactive ingredient.
Atrial Fibrillation
Marijuana increases heart rate and may increase inflammation in blood vessels. There are reports of increased heart attacks and cardiomyopathy (deterioration of the heart muscle) in marijuana smokers, as well as increased angina. This abnormal electrical activity in the heart causes its upper two chambers to beat in a rapid, uncoordinated rhythm; the arrhythmia itself is not life-threatening, but over time Atrial Fibrillation can contribute to stroke or heart failure in some people.
Studies in the International Journal of Clinical Practice in 2009 concluded that marijuana smoking likely increases the risk of atrial fibrillation (a type of abnormal heart rhythm) and that large doses lead to a drop in blood pressure when standing, which could result in dizziness and falls.
This is what you experienced:
Syncope -temporary loss of consciousness caused by a fall in blood pressure
Transient Ishemic Attack -a brief episode of neurological dysfunction resulting from an interruption in the blood supply to the brain.
These two terms I use indicates that there is a decrease oxygen to the brain effects that nervous system. This imbalance can cause some people experience an anxious sensation, overwhelmed panic sensation. Anxiety can result in a panic attack, so instead of providing the “High” effect, you feel stressed, fear or paranoia. Some studies have linked marijuana to mental disorders, including depression and psychosis, though that doesn’t mean the drug is the cause.
If this resonates with you and you notice cardiovascular problems, then you should use marijuana with caution or don’t use at all. I urge you to reduce your risk factors such as being overweight, having high blood pressure, high cholesterol or high blood sugar levels, sleep breathing problems (such as sleep apnea), and smoking and drinking can help those with Atrial fibrillation live longer.
I know there’s going to be some debatable comments but I’m not disseminating to be combative on health benefits and side effects. So let’s just stick to the facts:
